In April 2021 I was thrilled to be elected an Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society (ARWS). This was after having applied for election in March 2020. Due to the Covid pandemic the whole process had been somewhat drawn out.
The Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) has its base at the Bankside Gallery in London (next door to Tate Modern). It shares this home with the RE (Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers). The RWS, established in 1804, is one of two rival London based watercolour societies. The other is the RI (Royal Insititute of Painters in Watercolours).
All members of the RWS are required to submit a work the the society’s Diploma Collection which is now the home of my piece Battersea Dance.
